This is an extremely fine British-made WWII U.S. overseas cap that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of fine quality chocolate brown wool and piped with dark blue aviation piping. Pinned to the left front of the cap is a Warrant Officer 1 pinback insignia on blue enamel aviation backing. This insignia is with a snowflake back and marked, “AMCRAFT, ATTLEBORO, MASS”. Pinned to the right side is a small, sterling marked glider pilot’s wing that measures 1½ inches from wing tip to wing tip. The interior is lined with golden brown polished cotton material and is with brown leather sweatband. Ink stamped on the left interior is a British War Department “WD” and broad arrow with the letter “M” over it. Impressed in to the leather sweatband on the left side is the maker’s name, size, and date which reads, “J. COLLETT Ltd. - 7⅛ - 1944”. The cap is about a U.S. size 7 and has a few, insignificant spots of very light wear to the wool but remains in overall excellent condition.
